POETIC IMAGES
Several years ago a friend of Jane Lewis put her in touch with Neil Astley, editor of Bloodaxe Books, suggesting he might find some of her images suitable for use on covers of their poetry publications. To date Neil has used 22 of her paintings for Bloodaxe’s beautifully designed book covers. None of the images was specially commissioned, all the reproductions being from pictures painted for exhibition, and yet their relevance to the text is often striking. In many cases the writer has chosen the image. This gallery displays a selection of the covers.
